Björn & Company 2018 Year In Review

WOW, I can’t believe another year has flown by so quickly, but here we are. With 14 Weddings, 2 Corporate Events & 2 Milestone celebration, I am still catching my breath. This year had so many ups and downs that I count my blessings to still be in the game. I have to remind myself, no matter how tough the road gets, we still have to move on, reboot and be better. But enough of this mushy stuff. Let’s start getting into the fun stuff. Here are some of my favorite highlights of 2018.

Let’s start at the Top, shall we!

How lucky were we to get not 1 but 2 weddings right in the middle of January, the coldest month of the year? Our first wedding was January 13th for my now pregnant clients Dane & Samantha who tied the knot at the Four Seasons Downtown NY. OMG, this was officially the coldest day of the year, I think I wore about 20 layers of fabric that day, lol. Their wedding was the epitome of elegance & sophistication. Designed by the talented event designers Ovando and Photographed by legendary Fred Marcus Studios. Their wedding was later featured by Carats & Cake which would mark their wedding our first feature for 2018.

Fast Forward 1 week later. On January 20th, we were off to Brooklyn, (I say that like it’s far away) Lauren & David tied the knot at The Weylin. To date, one of my favorite wedding venues in New York. But wait, this wedding also officially marks the largest bridal party in Björn & Company history with 34 people in the bridal party and I will admit every single one of them was sweet as pie and a complete joy to work with. Lauren and David both swiped right on each other and the rest is history. The love that they have for each is undeniable and that spark between them was alive on the day of the wedding. Working with powerhouse Event Designer L’Atelier Rouge & Photography genius Joseph Lin and the rest of the amazing team who brought this wedding together, definitely goes down as one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had.

BUSINESS MARKETING

Between February & March, it was also a huge Marketing month for us. I showcased Björn & Company at 2 major events, New York Magazine & Westchester Magazine Bridal Shows. I was pretty excited for both as I get to show my talent to 1500 brides.

Mid Year Madness

I barely had time to catch my breath and we got right back into work mode with 8 weddings for the summer. One was a WEDDING IN A CAVE. This particular wedding was a special one because it was for my previous boss, renowned Westchester Chef David DiBari. I knew from the get-go when they mentioned Wedding in a Cave that it was going to be reminiscent of his style. The ceremony was followed by Jungle/Amazon/Tropical theme celebration with a tiki bar & flamingos. Definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.

in the news

For any planner, any press is great. It’s like getting a gold star on your best work. So when 3 of our past couples were featured on Carats & Cake and with David & Lauren’s wedding featured on Sophisticated Weddings titled “Take This To The Bank”. we were beyond thrilled. What came next took my hard work, emotions and street cred to new heights. Keisha & Liz’s 2017 wedding receiving a printed feature in New York Wedding Magazine Fall/Winter 2018/19 issue, titled “A Blowout Wedding on the Golf Greens”. This was such a win for me because this was the second lesbian wedding to ever be featured in New York Wedding Magazine and for the editors to recognized a wedding that myself and so many of the vendors involved worked so hard on, was truly an achievement. New York bridal fashion week

The Designers came to slay and did they ever!! With my industry buddies in tow, we were invited to attend every Bridal Fashion runway show this past Fall. Reviewing the 2019 collection from Ines Di Santo, Berta, Pnina Tornai, Gracy Accad, Justin Alexander & Dany Mizrachi only to mention a few. Every designer’s collection was breathtaking, but my personal favorite collection was Ines Di Santo, a collection so breathtaking, it made me pass out, lol. She was the only designer who showcased dresses of color which were truly extraordinary. You can also review my videos of NYBFW on our Instagram page. A lot of these collections are still stuck in my dreams, lol.

My only wish this year is that I should’ve taken a vacation. As business owners, we always forget about ourselves to serve the needs of our clients. I am humbled and I hold on to my mission which is to remain hospitable, service orientated and dedicated no matter what happens and I thank every one of our clients who contacted us to create these monumental moments with them. I have been extremely blessed with a fantastic career and will continue to do my best to uphold the standard that I have set for myself and for my clients.

Here are some of my favorite designs for 2018. I kept it true to the Björn & Company brand - Executing Simple Elegance. There were so many amazing pictures to choose from that it made it pretty hard for me to choose.

Again, THANK YOU to all our clients who tied the knot or celebrated a milestone this year, a BIG CONGRATULATIONS. It was indeed my pleasure to serve you all. I am looking forward to 2019 and new clients who will be booking with us.
