2016 Year In Review
13 Weddings, 6 Special Events, 1 Signature Event & 2 Bridal Shows
Whoa! I can't believe another year is coming to an end in just a few days, it's indeed surreal. 2016 has been quite an exciting year for me and my company and I cannot begin to tell you just how blessed I feel with all the amazing support I have received throughout the last year. My business continues to grow and 2017 has me even more excited for what's to come. Here are some highlights and favorite moments of 2016. Sit back and enjoy this journey with me.
Mobile Dev Hacker Conference 2016
Following my trip to Boston for the Mobile Dev Hacker Conference back in 2015, the client invited my company back as Conference Manager this conference for them at Microsoft in NYC. It was absolutely fantastic being around familiar brands and sponsors.
Bridal Expos 2016
The beginning of every year is always such an exciting time for a wedding planner. I love doing bridal shows. It puts you right there in front of couples and for them, they are at a wedding candy store. That's why when the Great Bridal Expo in NYC invited me to participate, I couldn't say no. With over 600 brides attending every year, how could I refuse, lol. Straight after that, Westchester Magazine's Unveiled Bridal Brunch took place at the Surf Club in New Rochelle. This was indeed a fun weekend where I got to display my business in front of excited potential brides.
Staying True To My Aesthetic - Simple, Modern Elegance!
This year I really stayed true to my brand aesthetic which is to create simple modern elegance weddings. Below are some of my favorite designs I executed for my clients this year. The first pic at Dutchess Manor in Beacon, my client wanted a wedding that was classic and true to their personalities. She wanted to incorporate blue and silver into their wedding with touches of blush & ivory. I have to say when I saw this design come together my heart completely melted. The second picture was at The William Vale in Brooklyn. The clients wanted a no frills, elegant garden/lounge feel for their wedding, which we perfectly executed. The third pic, is another one of my favorites because the way the light hit the centerpieces and blending in with the purplish lighting made this room extremely gorgeous. The last pic is the essence of me, clean lines, simple, modern and elegant. We gave all our clients exactly what they wanted this year and I could not be more proud.
This Weekend in June
Saturday, June 25th will never leave my mind. It tested my dedication as an Event Planner. This weekend, I did 3 events in 2 days and it was absolutely amazing. First started off with sunset rooftop party on Riverside Drive in NYC for one of my favorite clients. Guests were treated to a buffet style dinner and later a special treat with 2 opera singers that blew our minds with their amazing voices. Secondly, a graduation party for an amazing young woman Simrin. I adore this young lady so much and cannot believe the young lady she had become. Her proud parents treated guest to a backyard seated lunch in their backyard with pizza & catered cuisine from The Cookery & their Doughnation Pizza Oven. Speciality cocktails were created by a member of my team and guests were extremely happy. Lastly, we did a private fundraising dinner for World Health Clinician in Rye to raise money for Aids Epidemic in Africa. What a wonderful cause and I was extremely happy to be a part of this event.
The Defining Moment of 2016
This was the defining moment of my entire career in 2016. I remember walking in to my apartment and receiving the letter from Westchester Magazine to inform me that my annual Forks, Corks & Cocktails won Best of Westchester for BEST LGBT Initiative. Tears of joy came rolling down my eyes. Never in a million years did it occur to me that my event will be recognized as such. I will forever be thankful to the magazine for this honor.
There were so many other exciting things that has happened both personal and professional over the past year and so many changes I had to adapt to. I have been very fortunate to work with some amazing clients and vendors this year that I am excited for my future as an event planner. There were so many other events I did this year, but I wanted to keep this short, lol. I am excited to 2017 and I cannot thank everyone enough who has supported me and my journey thus far. When I look back at where I started, it is remarkable to see how far I have come and I am extremely proud of the portfolio and report I have built. It's so easy to sometimes doubt your abilities and your craft, but the important thing is to keep going and moving forward. Your dedication to your brand and business will eventually pay off, just stay dedicated and focused. I have no idea what 2017 has in store for me, but what I can say is that I am excited for all my new clients, trends and the unknown. Take a look at some of my favorite moments in 2016.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to support my business and I look forward to bringing you even more fun events in 2017.
